SME Server alternative to Microsoft Small Business Server 2003

Posted on: December 14, 2006

I was doing my daily/afternoon-ly browse on the Ubuntu Forums looking for a solution to my exsisting SMTP Relay problems I am having with server at the moment and found a distro called SME Server, It looks brilliant and as far as I can tell so far is basically a free alternative to Microsoft’s Small Business Server 2003. It looks really smart with a web-based interface enabling you to configure you small to medium size server. I intend to download it and install the distro tonight on a virtual machine and if I like it will then install this puppy onto my server at home. The official website is: http://www.smeserver.org/

As far as I can tell this Linux distro (Based on CentOS – based on Redhat Enterprise server) offers the following software packages directly out of the box and configurable through a web-browser.
